1. Understanding the Experiences and Outcomes

  • How do the experiences and outcomes build upon your current practice?
  • What contexts could you use to deliver the different experiences and outcomes?
  • What learning and teaching activities do they suggest to you?
  • How could the four capacities be developed within the experiences and outcomes?
  • How could the principles of Curriculum for Excellence be developed through the experiences and outcomes?

2. Progression

  • Within the various themes, which words, concepts or contexts indicate the progression from one level to the next?
  • What are the prior knowledge, experiences and skills which have been developed in earlier experiences and outcomes?
  • Within a level, can you see opportunities for depth and breadth and to provide rich, challenging experiences for all learners, including those who may progress more slowly through a level?
  • How appropriate do you consider the gradient of progression across all the levels to be?
  • How do you envisage recording and transferring information about progress in learning?

3. Collaboration

  • What opportunities can you identify for the development of numeracy across the curriculum?
  • How would you plan to collaborate with colleagues to support a coherent and progressive approach to numeracy across the curriculum?
  • In what ways will a leadership role, by yourself and others, be needed to take these experiences and outcomes forward?
